About PHC

Website & Logo Design

Michelle Goll Smith

Michelle Goll Smith was diagnosed with PH at one year of age after they discovered a congenital heart defect (VSD).  When Michelle was 3-years-old, surgery was performed to repair the defect, but unfortunately the PH remained.  Despite this, she felt fine and lead a normal life until she was in her late 20's when her symptoms worsened considerably.  At that point she had to retire from her career as a Graphic Artist / Web Site Designer and begin treatment for her PH.

I asked Michelle to design a new PHCentral logo for us in 2006. I had become familiar with her watercolor work and the graphic design work she had done for PHA.  The new logo was the beginning of the redefining and evolution of the site. Over the years PHC had been connecting people from all over the world, so we knew we needed a more appropriate logo. The logo she designed was perfect.

In late 2008, she and I talked about redesigning the entire website to bring it up to date, make it more stylish and user friendly. Michelle agreed to create the design gratis and, after the board of directors gave their blessing, she found a local programmer with a good reputation to execute her vision.

The project took much longer than expected, but through fits and starts, endless delays, dozens of conference meetings, months of bug fixing and site testing, the site went live in late August of 2009.

Michelle's personal website as well as a number of her beautiful watercolors can be viewed online at: Michelle Smith's Art Gallery. You’ll also find pages for Michelle in our Creative Corner.

We are very pleased with the product of all our hard work.  It was a long haul for us, but we’re finally there. Michelle held the programmer’s feet to the fire to ensure he kept true to her design and she was a joy to work alongside. We made a good team.

The staff at PHC extends a warm thank you to Michelle Goll Smith for her fine contributions. Tell us how you feel about our new look at PHCentral Feedback.
